Product Description

12 x 16 canvas giclee commemorating the end of historic Bay Meadows Racetrack in San Francisco.

This image is a tribute to Bay Meadows Racecourse which was in operation from Novemeber 13, 1934 and is set for demolition in October of 2008.

This painting is also a tribute to the 20 years in which the jockey Tom Chapman spent racing on the Bay Meadows Racecourse.

Tom also rode the last race of his career on the Bay Meadows Racecourse.

Tom adds a bit of sentiment and history in the image here.

Note the jockeys' silks are the colors of the most famous stables that have raced at Bay Meadows over the years.

The horses aren't likenesses of the famous horses that raced here under those colors.

But the colors of the silks do reflect some of the most prominant owners of some very famous horses.

From left to right the colors are those of Charles S.Howard, (Seabiscuit), Bob and Beverly Lewis (Charismatic), Calumet Farms (Citation), Harry Aleo (Lost in the Fog), and Sam and Dorothy Rubin (John Henry).
