| Zenyatta Pictures - Art Prints of the Race Horse ZenyattaTerrific gifts for horse racing fans
Some of these prints are signed by jockey Mike Smith. Zenyatta is a new mother! She delivered a colt sired by Tapit on Monday April 1 (no foolin!) Zenyatta Facts - It has just been announced that Zenyatta will be bred to Bernardini the 2006 Preakness Winner - She is owned by Jerry Moss who founded A&M Records. Moss is the "M" and Herb Alpert (who owns horses as well) is the "A". - Zenyatta was puchased as a yearling for $60,000 at the Keeneland September Sale in 2005 (see the video below). Her earnings, as of October 2010, are over 6.4 million dollars. - Zenyatta's name comes from the third Police album, "Zenyatta Mondatta", which has no actual meaning. Moss won the Kentucky Derby in 2006 with Giacomo, which is the nickname of Stings son Jack. - She is undefeated in 19 career races and has raced over three California tracks (Santa Anita, Del Mar, and Hollywood Park) and one in Arkansas (Oaklawn Park). Her final race will occur on November 6 at Churchill Downs in Kentucky where she will attempt to defend her Breeders Cup classic title and retire 20 for 20. - Only Peppers Pride can lay claim to having a 19 for 19 career, but her record is somewhat tainted since she never raced outside of the state of New Mexico. - Seventeen of her nineteen victories occurred on synthetic surfaces. Her only two dirt races were at Oaklawn Park. - Zenyatta was scheduled to retire after her 2009 Breeders Cup Classic Victory but owner Jerry Moss decided to bring her back for one more year because "I enjoy watching her run". - Zenyatta is the only female to win the Breeders Cup Classic. Her dramatic stretch run was immortalized with (track announcer) Trevor Denman's call "What a performance....one we'll never forget!" - The "Lady's Secret Stakes" was named "The Zenyatta Stakes" after her original retirement in 2009. It was renamed "The Lady's Secret Stakes" when Zenyatta returned to racing. After all, it would have been a bit awkward for Zenyatta to be racing in "The Zenyatta Stakes"? Here is a video of Zenyattas baby colt! Do yourself a favor and watch her 2009 Breeder's Cup Classic Zenyatta's final race - her only loss - 2010 Breeders Cup Classic at Churchill Downs. Even in a loss, many believe that this was her greatest race.
