Elegant Wild Horse Pictures & Prints

In the USA, we normally think of mustangs when we think of wild horses. But mustangs are actually "feral" horses. Feral horses were once domesticated horses that escaped into the wild. When the Europeans introduced horses to America (approximately the 1400's), the ones that escaped formed herds that we now think of as mustangs. In Australia, they are known as the Brumby mustang.

In the American West, there are over 30,000 wild horses roaming free. The federal government has rounded up thousands and have attempted to put these wild horses up for adoption. Unfortunately, The demand for adoption is not keeping up with the supply. The end result being euthanasia for many of them.
