Tiznow Video - Winning the 2001 Breeder's Cup Classic - Back To Back
Tom Durkin called the 2001 Breeder's Cup Classic.
Tiznow was the only horse to win back to back runnings of the Breeder's Cup Classic. His full brother, Budroyale, ran second in the 1999-an amazing feat for his sire Cee's Tizzy and his dam Cee's Song, who won only one race in her career.
Tiznow was owned and bred by Cecelia (Cee) Straub Rubens, for whom both parents of Tiznow obtained their names.
His 2001 victory was all the more improbable as he had missed six months with a sore back. He had not been able to pass a horse in the stretch in his two comeback races.
Trainer Jay Robbins performed a masterful training job.
While returning to the winners circle immediately after the race, jockey Chris McCarron told the NBC audience, "this colt can run ALL DAY!".
